Let us begin with interesting things.
Well today in bible study, I realized a couple of things. DIDJU KNOW THAT THE PARTING OF THE RED SEA HAPPENED IN THE NIGHT???? Yeah, I thought that was amazing in itself. Because imagine: you're freaking out 'cause 1) you just left the only life you knew... being a slave 2) you're following a freaking cloud/fire pillar?! 3) Egyptian army on your tail.... 4) cloud/fire pillar leads you to be sandwiched between the Red Sea and a desert...not to mention an enemy army 5) cloud/fire pillar thing blocks your view of the Egyptians, but you can probably still hear them and their weapons ready to kill you! 6) during the night, the water parts as Moses lifts his hand and staff after God's command... this also means because it's dark, you probably can't exactly see what is happening 7) in a massive crowd of Israelites, you make your way INTO this passage created in the water... YET YOU CAN'T EXACTLY SEE IT VERY WELL! 8) Egyptians are STILL on your tail 9) you're walking in this passage and suddenly chaos and confusion hits the Egyptian army and it's still dark... so you just hear babies crying, women crying, people shuffling along, the water on either side of you and chariots falling apart behind you with the clanking of weaponry and war cries of bloodthirsty Egyptians 10) you reach the other end and by daybreak, you see the water return, only to the cries and screams of the confused Egyptian army.
SCARY SHIT, RIGHT? I would be scared shitless. Honestly, I would totally be fearing God at that point. And I'd be so drained... BTW, this is all from Exodus 14ish. =) Read it. And imagine you're an Israelite. Scary scary scary. Anyways, that was just a random thought. It's good to compare God in the OT and the NT because I think there are more similarities than people usually make it out to be. OT God isn't all that harsh compared to NT God when it's probably because of the Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. And a very obvious constant is God's promised salvation and His rescue. Also a parallel between Christians (post-Jesus believers, if I may) and the Israelites is that we both forget the promises of God.
I found this especially true the other day, when I had found out I had got the BIG NEWS. I was thinking when was the last time I could pinpoint what God has done in my life? Well... I really can't pick out a time. Sure, I could say when I became a Christian or something (somewhat) generic, but really I can't pinpoint anything. But this BIG NEWS. I won't forget. I won't. I can't. It's life-determining. MASSIVE. So yes. It's sad that it's really easy to forget the miracles that God does, but I think it's good to journal these things or to share them or to write them down somewhere so that we don't forget.
This also relates to the passage I was talking about before... 'cause despite God's wrath on the Egyptians before (plagues and stuff) and God freeing His people... they still doubted when the Egyptian army was hot on their trail... ALSO WHEN THEY WERE FOLLOWING A PILLAR OF CLOUD/FIRE. HOW COULD YOU DOUBT IN THAT SITUATION? Habituation. Desensitization towards God working in our lives. YES. FIGHT IT. =)
But yes. That was interesting. Now onto small news.
I've realized that movies can really affect me. For example, The Interpreter really made me want to focus on languages. And today I watched Proof, I quite liked it, and it makes me want to study math for fun. D= I know. It's crazy. But cool. I actually do. Hahah.
OKAY. BIG NEWS. If you haven't heard already...
I got offered a place at Bond University to study Medicine. Whoo. Yeah. But honestly, it's only by God's grace. Any of you who knows my high school results (i.e. ENTER and UMAT score) would know the validity of that statement. And if you DON'T know my ENTER or UMAT score, it is either because you, like me, don't care too much and don't remember, or that I never told you because it didn't matter between us, you never asked or if our relationship seems really superficial and all you do is ask about my ENTER, I probably didn't tell you because of that fact.
Everything has worked out really well so far with Bond as well, so my discontinuation from USyd was fast and painless and my enrollment and confirmation for a place AND accommodation at Bond was really easy to sort out, so I really do feel that God has His hand on this decision.
I'm flying up on Tuesday night to make orientation on Thursday and Friday, then it's off to med-camp for the weekend, hopefully. Whoo. A friend gave me an awesome idea for a costume (the theme is medical emergency/I need medical attention)... I'ma try to get/make an eyeball and an eyepatch...and walk around with an eyeball on a fork. =) And cover one side of my face with fake blood. and shirt. WHOO. Hahaha. Yeaaaahhhh... let's see if I can pull this one off, yer?
